Meet Brad, father of 5 and our Grand Prize PUMA Pact Winner!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the PUMA Pact Challenge! We’re excited to introduce Brad, the Grand Prize winner. He showed consistent diligence throughout the Challenge, having been a Top 10 Exerciser during Week 2, and kept up his 7-days-a-week intense workouts for the full 4 weeks. Brad is a 48-year-old father of five kids, and he offered a glimpse into his motivation:
“I work very hard once at the gym, but the hardest part has always been making the commitment to show up. Your app does what it says and gets you there. Once you put on your workout clothes and get to the gym, you might as well give it your all. I don’t know why everyone isn’t using your app … I am hooked!”
And showing up does make a difference. Brad won the entire new PUMA Fitness spring line as the PUMA Pact Grand Prize Winner! Feeling a little jealous? (don’t worry, we wanted those sweet kicks too) For one more week, GymPact members get 20% off all new PUMA Fitness gear.
And a few more words of wisdom from Brad:
1. Why did you start using GymPact?
My daughter (who saw it on www.healthytippingpoint.com) told me about before the gym-pact started. I read about it but couldn’t believe something like the pact existed. I decided to try it anyway. I LOVE IT. It works great for me. I think it works best for those who are more frugal (like me). But I appreciate the spendthrifts who sponsor the people fulfilling their commitments.
2. How has it been working for you so far?
Fantastic. I have taken one break since it started. My wife and I went on a 2 week cruise. We worked out every day and she didn’t gain any weight. I wasn’t so lucky! I told GymPact I was taking a break because I didn’t think it would believe my gym was floating out at sea.
3. What is your favorite fitness tip?
Show up! When you’re tired, go anyway! When it’s raining, go anyway. I know it’s been said over and over, but it does make you feel better to do something for yourself.
4. Is there anything specific you are waiting to spend your earnings on?
I’ve needed new running shoes and couldn’t wait for enough money. I did use what was there for them and I’m already accumulating more. I now will be able to use it for them from now on. Please keep this program going. It is a great one. I try and get anyone I see with an iPhone at the gym to sign up, but I have trouble making them believe me.
5. What one piece of advice would you give to other GymPacters to stay motivated?
Decide on your pact and add 2 [days]. Make it not only a pact with GymPact. Make it a pact with yourself. There is NO secret to being fit. And there never will be. All of the gimmicks and diets come down to one thing: Doing it! Show up at the gym and eat less. I watched the mini-series on obesity in America on HBO recently detailing that we all eat too much and spend too much time sitting. One of the benefits to the pact for me is being able to eat out. There are almost no restaurants that offer meals of proper portions. So if you eat out and don’t work out (basically live the average American lifestyle), you WILL gain weight. Gym time can even become a break in your day and something you look forward to. I know I do!
