GymPact stories: Kelly C.
If you’ve been keeping up with our Facebook and twitter updates - it’s probably pretty clear we are beyond thrilled about our recent integration with RunKeeper. But what makes it even more exciting is to hear how it’s working and getting feedback from all of you GymPacters.
Here’s Kelly’s story. She used GymPact when we first launched in January, left for a bit, and is back on board and ready to go now that outdoor activities can count towards her Pact!

I started using GymPact in January when the app first launched - the idea of getting paid to exercise was extremely motivating, especially since I had recently gained a *lot* of weight. As many people do at the start of the year, I had just joined a gym, so I immediately used the app to motivate myself. However, about a month later I moved back into my own apartment (I was temporarily at my parents,) and the complex had its own gym, and it wasn’t long before spring and I was able to start walking outside - so I wasn’t able to keep using GymPact.
In April, I started taking accountability for my weight gain - and by counting calories and walking 6-7 miles a day, I dropped 20 pounds. The past few months I’ve been complacent with my weight, though - I haven’t gained any back, but haven’t lost any either - there just hasn’t been any motivation to keep counting calories and walking religiously. With the integration of GymPact and Runkeeper, I’m now more motivated than ever to walk those 6-7 miles a day again - after all, what’s better than knowing I’ll get paid to lose weight?!
Since I work for myself (I’m a contributor to Forbes (blogs.forbes.com/kellyclay/) and a freelance digital strategist) I make my own schedule - but I can easily get bogged down with phone calls, meetings, and happy hours with friends at the end of the day. Taking advantage of any extra half hour between tasks has been critical in my weight loss effort - and will now be especially important to meet my Pact every week!
